Braintree Setup

Adding Braintree as a Payment Method

Braintree is a Standard Payment Gateway in LemonStand. This means that it will have the exact same configuration fields described in the Payment Methods document other than the Credentials configuration. This article describes each credential field to help you confirm the right credentials to enter to ensure a connection is made to your account.

The Merchant Account ID  for Braintree is a unique identifier for a specific Merchant account (merchants can have more than 1 in some cases) in Braintree.  The Merchant ID  is the unique identifier for your entire gateway account with Braintree.  The Public Key  is your user specific public identifier for API calls made to the Braintree gateway for your merchant account. The Private Key  is your user-specific secure identifier for API calls.

If you're not sure where to find these credentials in your Braintree account, you can find them by reading their documentation here.

You'll need to use a production account for Braintree credentials. Using your Sandbox credentials for test payments is not supported, but you can use our default "Test Payment" method for testing payments prior to launch, and then switch to your Braintree payment method for live payments. Note: we always recommend testing a live payment with a real card (you can cancel and refund afterwards) at least once when launching.
